Volunteer Guidelines

Please review and distribute these guidelines to volunteers ahead of time in preparation for your time on site. Each site will have a site supervisor who can answer questions, provide direction and ensure a safe volunteer experience

The Basics

Volunteering with Green Country Habitat for Humanity is fun and rewarding. No experience is required! We’ll provide all the training and tools you will need to volunteer. Volunteering is a full day commitment. We ask that all volunteers plan to work the entire shift. Volunteer shifts begin at 8:30 AM and conclude by 4 P.M.

Food and Snacks

Green Country Habitat for Humanity does not provide food on site. If your group is not providing food, please bring your own snacks and lunch. There will be drinking water and restrooms at every site.

What to bring

  • Completed volunteer waiver

  • Lunch and snacks

  • Sunscreen

  • Reusable water bottle

What to wear

  • Comfortable clothing that can get dirty (shorts are acceptable)

  • Dress for the weather

  • Work boots or sneakers (no open-toe or shoes with heels)

  • Work gloves (there will be extra available)

  • Hat and/or sunglasses as appropriate

Youth Volunteer Specifics

For safety reasons, all volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older on active construction sites. We ask that one adult leader, at least 21 years of age or older, accompany every group of four youth.
